About the Award The Global Health Field Research Award (GHFRA) is a merger of two JHU global health funding programs: the Framework Program in Global Health, previously administered by the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health, and the Global Field Experience Fund, previously administered by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
The objective of the GHFRA is to enhance the recruitment of students into global health research and practice careers by providing them the means to work with faculty mentors and to attain domestic or international cross-cultural field experience for no less than 4 weeks. All students who wish to be considered for the grant must team with a research mentor, formulate a global health-related project, and submit a detailed proposal of the project on the grant deadline, March 1, each school year. Grants of up to $3,500 to undergraduate and graduate students are awarded to the proposals judged by faculty members to be realistic, challenging, and educational. The GHFRA allows students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cross-cultural setting, where they can work under a faculty mentor and develop skills to carry with them into their careers. The Program supports a variety of global health related projects with the aim of training future professionals to effectively respond to all of the world's health challenges. GHFRA is open to graduate and undergraduate students and medical residents of the Johns Hopkins University. Faculty members may not apply for a GHFRA. MPH students should apply to the MPH Field Experience Fund Award. For Returning Students >> Conference Grants The Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health offers $500 grants for winners of the Global Health Field Research Awards and Global Health Established Field Placements to present their research at a conference.
