Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program: This two-year program begins with a one-year field placement in countries throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Fellows are assigned to national and international non-governmental organizations, private sector entities, and bi-lateral and multi-lateral organizations. Fellows spend their second year in a policy environment, usually at the headquarters of the organizations where they served during their field placements. Kellogg Health Scholars Program: The Kellogg Health Scholars Program consists of two tracks and offers two-year postdoctoral fellowships at eight training sites. The Community track highlights community-based participatory research, and relationships between academic health disparities research, public health practices in communities, and policy development. The Multidisciplinary track highlights a multidisciplinary approach to studying the determinants of health inequalities and inequities. Lambarene Schweitzer Fellows Program - Gabon (from COS): The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship will select four medical students to spend three months working as fellows at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, Gabon on clinical rotations. The program will also select and send up to two Public Health Fellows to serve at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, Gabon. Public Health Fellows will work with the hospital's Community Health Outreach Program, which provides village-based health care, including maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, TB education and follow-up, and malaria prevention and treatment. Philippe Foundation Grant: (from COS). The Philippe Foundation awards grants to doctors and scientists interested in exchange programs between France and the United States. The grants are designed to encourage and facilitate Franco-American exchanges, but cannot provide the primary source of support. Deadline: Continuous.

Institute of International Education (IIE) - Scholar Rescue Fund: The Scholar Rescue Fund is intended to support academics, scholars, and intellectuals from any country and any discipline in temporary visits to institutions in any safe country, in any part of the world. The fund's hope is that during the fellowship period conditions in the scholars' home country might improve to allow their safe return. Applications and nominations are accepted continuously.

The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP): The IFP provides opportunities for advanced study to exceptional individuals who will use this education to become leaders in their respective fields, furthering development in their own countries and greater economic and social justice worldwide.

Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia HIVCorps one-year internship: This program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with the opportunity to particiapte in international HIV program and research initiatives.

International Society for Infectious Diseases Scientific Exchange Fellowship Program: The program was created to promote collaboration among researchers in different countries by enabling infectious disease researchers in the formative stage of their career to extend their research experience in institutions outside of their region. These awards are not restricted to physicians and are intended to support young scientists from developing countries in updating their knowledge of new, relevant laboratory techniques or in learning specific skills and techniques. Proposals that enhance the transfer of technologies to geographical areas where they are particularly needed will be favored.

Josephine de Karman Fellowships: Students in any discipline entering the senior undergraduate year or a candidate for a Ph.D. who will defend their dissertation by January 2009 are eligible to apply. The fellowship is open to foreign students already enrolled in a university located in the United States.

International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Internship Awards: IDRC Internship Awards provide exposure to research for international development through a program of training in research management and grant administration under the guidance of IDRC program staff. The internship is designed to provide hands-on learning experiences in research program management: in the creation, dissemination, and utilization of knowledge from an international perspective.

Lambarene Schweitzer Fellows Program: The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship will select four medical students to spend three months working as fellows at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, Gabon on clinical rotations. Fellows work as junior physicians,supervised by Schweitzer Hospital medical staff. Note: Hopkins is a participating organization.

Hughes Medical Institute Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students: The Program supports a year of full-time biomedical research training for medical and dental students. The fellowships provide funds to support fellows and meet their research- and education-related expenses. Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. medical school or dental school and the fellowship research may be conducted at any academic or nonprofit institution in the United States, except the National Institutes of Health. Research may be conducted abroad if the fellow's mentor is affiliated with a U.S. institution.

PAHO/WHO Fellowships (WHO Member States Outside the Americas) (from COS):?Fellowships are available to citizens of member states of the World Health Organization (WHO). Fellowships provide opportunities for advanced study in public health fields that are not customarily available in the fellow's home country. They are intended to promote the international exchange of scientific knowledge and techniques related to health. Candidates' proposed field of study must be directly related to the public health strategy and programs of the candidate's home country.

PAHO/WHO Fellowships (Americas excluding United States and Canada) (from COS):?Fellowships are available to citizens of member states of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Fellowships provide opportunities for advanced study in public health fields that are not customarily available in the fellow's home country. They are intended to promote the international exchange of scientific knowledge and techniques related to health. Candidates' proposed field of study must be directly related to the public health strategy and programs of the candidate's home country.

American Association of University Women-International Fellowships (From COS): AAUW Educational Foundation offers International Fellowships for full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The fellowships support both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions inside or outside the United States.

International Research Fellowship Program (IRFP) - NSF 06-582 (From COS): The objective of the program is to introduce scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to research opportunities abroad.

University of Cape Town Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. (From COS): Unrestricted citizenship but applications from other African countries and from women will be given preference.

Medical Research Council (MRC) - South Africa Research Training Awards: Funding for South African citizens to become engaged in research.

UICC American Cancer Society International Fellowships for Beginning Investigators (ACSBI): These fellowships are targeted primarily to developing and middle-income country investigators. Rotary Foundation Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship: The primary objective of the scholarships program is to promote international understanding, as the scholars are expected to serve as ambassadors of goodwill during the term of their scholarships. The Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship supports one academic year of full-time study in another country. Deadline: varies, see announcement.

Leverhulme Trust Study Abroad Studentships: The Study Abroad Studentships supports postgraduate and postdoctoral scholars from the UK. The studentships provide an extended period of advanced study or research at a centre of learning overseas (except the USA). Applicants should be able to demonstrate why their work would benefit by being conducted overseas rather than in the United Kingdom.

Ph.D. Scholarship - Singapore Agency for Science, Technology, and Research: Scholarships are open to Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and ASEAN Nationals. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Fulbright Comprehensive (Full) Grants (From COS): These grants generally provide round-trip transportation; book and research allowances; maintenance for the academic year, based on living costs in the host country.

Boehringer Ingelheim - Foundation for Basic Research in Biomedicine Travel Allowances: (From COS) to enable the recipients to visit laboratories further afield in order to study clearly defined techniques useful for their ongoing research and the work of their research group at home.
