Fellowships

AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellows Program: Designed to strengthen the connections between scientists and journalists and to enhance coverage of science- and technology-related issues in mass media in order to improve public understanding and appreciation of science and technology, the AAAS Fellows Program places advanced science students to work during the summer as reporters, researchers, and production assistants in newsrooms at mass media organizations across the United States. Deadline: January 15, 2007.

Poliomyelitis Research Foundation (PRF)-James Gear International Fellowship: PRF funds research projects focused on laboratory or epidemiological virus research; the fellowship is given to outstanding candidates to enable them to develop their research careers internationally in overseas academic institutions. Open only to South African citizens or individuals with permanent resident status. Deadline(s): February 28, 2007, July 15, 2007, October 15, 2007.

Project Funding

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) Clinical Scientist Development Award Program 2007: The Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Development Award Program supports junior faculty with an M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. (physician-scientists) early in their careers as independent clinical researchers. Hopkins may submit three nominations for this special award program, and the internal peer review to select nominees will be managed through the Provost's Office.  Required materials for internal review:1. JHU Internal Submission Cover Sheet (see http://jhuresearch.jhu.edu/limitedform-jhu.doc)  2. Research plan (4-5 pages, not including figures and references) 3. Curriculum Vitae (2-4 pages, listing all funding sources) 4. A letter of recommendation from the candidate's department chair/director. Interested candidates should submit a complete packet of materials for internal review, via email, to Grace Bigelow at graceb@jhu.edu no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2007.
