Position Announcement - Project Director, Consortium to Respond Effectively to the AIDS-TB Epidemic: The Center for Tuberculosis Research at JHU is seeking a Project Director who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, coordination and functioning of this 7-year, $48 million global health research and advocacy project funded by the Gates Foundation. The Project Director manages the Administrative Core of CREATE, overseeing scientific, administrative and policy/advocacy functions of the Core. Duties include coordinating communications between three large community-based research projects and CREATE cores, developing mechanisms for rapidly communicating and utilizing data generated by CREATE projects to contribute to TB/HIV policy, leading advocacy activities related to TB/HIV at the global and project-specific levels, and working with subcontractors, partners and interested parties to organize and develop additional research and advocacy activities that will help promote TB/HIV interventions and transform public health practice. The Project Director is also responsible for key deliverables of the Administrative Core, including preparation of reports for the Gates Foundation, supervision of administrative staff, coordination of subcontracts in conjunction with the Finance Manager, planning of scientific meetings, and coordination of the Data Safety and Monitoring Committee. NIH Announces Requirement for Detailed (Non-Modular) Budget Submissions for All Competing Grant Applications from Foreign (Non-U.S.) Institutions. (NOT-OD-06-096) Global Partnerships for Social Science AIDS Research (R24): NIH - RFA HD-06-007 This RFA calls for collaborative applications between U.S. (or other developed country) institutions and institutions in countries hard hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The initiative is designed to enhance capabilities for rigorous behavioral and social science research in relation to HIV/AIDS within these countries. This is a JHU-coordinated program. Responses are needed by Monday, September 18, 2006. NSF - Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) Awards 2006: PIRE seeks to catalyze a cultural change in U.S. institutions by establishing innovative models for international collaborative research and education. The program will enable U.S. institutions to establish collaborative relationships with international groups or institutions in order to engender new knowledge and discoveries at the frontier and to promote the development of a globally-engaged, U.S. scientific and engineering workforce. Burroughs Wellcome Fund Award Program in Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease for 2007: The goal of the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease Program is to provide new opportunities for accomplished investigators early in their careers.
