Research and Professional Experience
My research focus is on improving the health of mothers, newborns and young children in areas where access to health facilities is poor or non-existent, and social, cultural and economic factors affecting the introduction of new treatments and therapies to improve the maternal and child health. My current research includes the evaluation of a nation-wide program to promote correct treatment of malaria in Ghana, promotion of integrated packages of water and sanitation interventions in Bangladesh, and evaluation of an integrated maternal and newborn health program in Tanzania. I also serve as technical advisor with the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Project (MCHIP) for operations research projects on the delivery of maternal and child health interventions conducted by NGOs. I am a partner in the International Center for Maternal & Newborn Health, and I currently provide technical support to maternal and newborn health projects in Tanzania, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
