Research and Professional Experience
Dina Borzekowski's area of expertise is children, media, and health. In her research, she has and will continue to investigate how a child or adolescent’s demographics, background, and issue involvement influence perceptions of positive and negative health messages.
Dina Borzekowski has examined a range of issues (e.g., alcohol use, smoking, violence, nutrition, eating disorders, etc.) among diverse samples including preschoolers, third and fourth graders, high school students, incarcerated teenagers, and parents. She has considered print, radio, television, and Internet messages.
Dr. Borzekowski is the Principal Investigator on the following projects:
The evaluation of Kilimani Sesame in Tanzania (funded by Sesame Workshop); The evaluation of Jalan Sesama in Indonesia (funded by Sesame Workshop); and The Online Health Literacy of Older Adults (with research labs at JHSPH and Stanford) (funded by NIH-NIA as an R01).
