Background[1]

Located in Eastern Africa along the Indian Ocean, the Republic of Kenya was formerly known as British East Africa. Kenya achieved independence in 1963 and since then has undergone several presidential reigns. The country is one of the most successful agricultural production regions in Africa with highlands, glaciers, and abundant wildlife, but experiences severe drought, flooding, water pollution, and deforestion.
