Background[1]

Located in Western Europe, Ireland occupies five-sixths of the island along the North Atlantic Ocean. The country has a republic, parliamentary democracy once run by Celtic tribes until the English invaded in the 12th century creating Anglo-Irish struggle. Working closely with the British governments, peace settlements are still being instituted. Fortunately, few natural hazards exist and the only current environmental issue is water and air pollution.
