Argentina

Data

Background[1]

Located in Southern South America along the South Atlantic Ocean, the Argentine Republic is heavily shaped by immigrants from throughout Europe. The country finally adopted democratic rule in 1983 after being under Spain's rule. However, Argentina has had to pay off a severe debt it suffered from in 2001 and as a world leader in setting voluntary greenhouse gas targets, it needs to first solve their own urban and rural environmental problems. After Brazil, Argentina is the second largest country in South America and is home to a diverse geophysical landscape.
