Center for Global Health announce twelve winners of Framework Program in Global Health

The Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health has announced the winners of twelve Framework Program in Global Health awards. Each award is for $3,000 to $5,000 and will support the short-term, overseas field work of students at Johns Hopkins University.

The winners of the awards are School of Medicine MD candidates Lisa Cranmer, Maria Garcia, Fang Ko, Daniel Ling , and Ramya Swamy; School of Nursing PhD candidate Jason Farley; Bloomberg School of Public Health master’s candidates Heidi Hallman, Morgan Philbin, Jessica Shearer, and Andrea Wirtz; Bloomberg School of Public Health PhD candidate Sharon Nappier, and School of Arts & Sciences bachelor’s candidate Shereef Elnahal.

The objective of the Framework Program in Global Health is to enhance the recruitment of diverse students into research and practice careers in global health. Students receiving the award must work a faculty advisor who will provide mentoring for their project. Typically, the student work at an international site where the faculty advisor has on-going research activities. This program allows students to get hands-on experience in an international location, which will serve to further their education and define their career goals.

The program is supported by the National Institutes of Health’s Fogarty International Center and the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health. The grants are awarded twice a year, with deadlines in November and April. Hopkins students interested in applying can visit the Framework Program in Global Health page for more information. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.
